Family Friendliness: We enjoyed the game’s graphics and difficulty of gameplay, but this one is definitely not recommend for novice gamers.  Although there’s no official cooperative mode, it’s a great way for moms or dads who are more experienced to share a game that’s more advanced than many of the standard Wii mini-collections.  However, the only way to really enjoy this one together is via over-the-shoulder gameplay as it’s only a single player experience.

Highlights:
- Great graphics and challenging gameplay make this a nice game for “gamer” parents to experience with their kids.

- Easy to switch between alien life forms, which makes for good strategy elements as players figure out the best way to progress.
Lowlights:
- Difficult control scheme and heavy use of game jargon in tutorial will likely be offputting for novice gamers.

Game Details:

Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction is a game that will definitely be most enjoyed by fans of the popular Cartoon Network show who also have some experience playing video games.

Only one player can play, and will need to use the Wii-mote and nunchuk.  The game lets players take control of Ben, who has the ability to transform into a number of different aliens.  This transformation is actually completed pretty easily in the game, as players can simply choose a direction on the d-pad to switch to a character.

Although it’s pretty easy to move around with the nunchuk joystick, and to battle enemies by pushing the b-trigger to punch and attack, the game does offer more complex button combinations and special attacks for each alien form.  These involve combining holding down one trigger while selecting the d-pad.  If you’ve played a games, it’s not that hard, but younger gamers and those who don’t play as often may find the controls extremely difficult.

The ease  of switching to Ben’s different alien identities is a really nice feature, and also adds a nice strategy element to the game as players will need to figure out which creature can best be used in each situation or puzzle.

We enjoyed the game’s graphics and difficulty of gameplay, but this one is definitely not recommend for novice gamers.  Although there’s no official cooperative mode, it’s a great way for moms or dads who are more experienced to share a game that’s more advanced than many of the standard Wii mini-collections.  However, the only way to really enjoy this one together is via over-the-shoulder gameplay as it’s only a single player experience.
