Country Dance 2

ESRB Rating:
ESRB Rating Summary
E10+ Lyrics
Release Date: November 1, 2011
Game System: Wii
Publisher: Game Mill Entertainment
Players: 4
Family Friendly Video Games Approved
Family Friendliness:
Country Dance 2 is the best dancing video game option for country music fans, with a new game mode called Perfection that attempts to reward players who dance the best.  The game is rated E 10+ based on lyrics, but kids as young as 4 and 5 should be able to dance along with their family and siblings no problem.  There’s nothing vulgar or that objectionable in the lyrics, in our opinion.

Highlights:
We like the ratings breakdown at the end of each song of how many times each player was “Great,” “Good” or just “OK.”

Partner dances and Perfection mode help Country Dance 2 stand out from other dancing games (in addition to the focus on country music).

Lowlights:
As with the first Country Dance game, Country Dance 2 uses computer generated dancers for players to match instead of videos of characters, and at times the dancing seems a bit unnatural.

Up to 4 players at once will hold the Wii-mote in their right hands as they mirror the onscreen dance moves of the computer-generated country dancers.  There are lots of great country songs to choose from, with more than 30 different hits.

While most of the dancing is stuff you can find in other games, there are a couple modes which we really like in Country Dance 2. The first is Perfection mode, which offers players who think they have got the dances down to compete in a game that only rewards the most accurate of dance moves.  Older kids who love the element of competition will especially love these.

We also really like the few songs that have “Partner” dances, in which 2 players perform different moves based on one of the two onscreen players.  It’s great seeing friends and family dance together.

Country Dance 2 is rated E 10+ based on lyrics, but kids as young as 4 and 5 should be able to dance along with their family and siblings no problem.  There’s nothing vulgar or that objectionable in the lyrics, in our opinion.
