Cyberbike Cycling Sports for Wii uses a real-life exercise bike as the controller and offers a fun way to get a nice workout while pedaling your way through the game. And there really is a game here to play, this isn’t just a workout program. We were pleasantly surprised that there were actually fun eco-focused challenges as part of the gameplay.
But before you can play Cyberbike, you’ll need to put it together. Although it seems like there are a lot of parts, it actually can be done in about 15 or 20 minutes, and there are really only three or four overall steps to the assembly.
Once your Cyberbike is built and ready, you’ll hook it up via cable to one of the Wii’s Gamecube controller slots and be ready to play Cyberbike Cyclling Sports.
To get into the action, you’ll need to create a profile. As part of this profile-creation process, Cyberbike asks players to pedal as fast as they can, and automatically assigns an appropriate difficulty level for challenges.
And there are four different ways to play through Cyberbike. In each area, players must pick up various pieces of garbage and pollution in order to help clean “Planet Cyclo.”
- Cyclo Booster is a ride through a rustic village on a traditional bicycle.
- Sub Cyclo takes players underwater in a peddle-powered submarine.
- Cyclo Rail is sort of a roller coaster combined with a runaway mine car, in which steering to the left and right to make your player lean is important for collecting items.
- Cyclo Copter takes your Cyberbike into the sky, as you maneuver up, down and through to clean up the planet.
The controls in each level aren’t necessarily what you would expect. In Cyclo Booster the bicycycle controls how you think it would, but in Cyclo Copter pedaling controls your altitude while the joystick helps you move forward.
Is Cyberbike the funnest video game we've ever played? Nope. Is it the best workout we've ever had? Nope. But Cyberbike Magnetic Edition brings exercise and video games together, providing a way for families to get a healthy dose of video activity while playing indoors, and we definitely think that makes Cyberbike an extremely family-friendly video game.
We really appreciate that Cyberbike is more than just a bicycle exercise simulation, there’s actually fun gameplay in the Cyberbike Cycling Sports game that comes with it. These eco-focused challenges are fun for any kid big enough to fit on the Cyberbike and pedal comfortably. Each of Cyberbike’s four different Cyclo Vehicles provide a nice variety of ways to play.
