ESRB Rating Summary

Game System: Nintendo 3DS

Family Friendly Video Games Approved
Family Friendliness:
Deca Sports Extreme is a solid addition to your family’s 3DS library.  None of the mini-games are particularly spectacular on their own, but when you consider that you get 10 different sports in one package, it makes a great value proposition.  Due to the reading and precision (and limitations of the 3DS hardward), we recommend this for kids ages 8 and up.

Highlights:
- Great customization options for teams allow families to put themselves or their friends into the game with a little bit of work.

- With 10 different games, there’s a lot of value in Deca Sports Extreme.

Lowlights:
- Make sure to pay attention to the in-game tutorials as you figure out how to play, because the manual doesn’t offer much help.

Game Details:

Deca Sports Extreme is a collection of 10 different sports for Nintendo 3DS.

Players can pit their team against the computer in Basketball, Tennis, Hockey, Bowling and Soccer, along with other less familiar sports such as Sport Blowgun, Snowball Fight, Trampoline, Sowmobile Racing and Sumo Wrestling.

The real fun in Deca Sports Extreme can come in customizing and building your own team, and there are many great options for doing that here.  The more you play, the more you can become attached to the characters and teams you’ve created, and the more “experience” they’ll earn which will help them become better competitors.

Although you can’t play multiplayer with just one cartridge, if you have more than one 3DS, Deca Sports Extreme does allow for limited “download play” in which you can play any sport, but only one match at a time and without the ability to select your team. If both 3DS’ have game cartridges, though, you can go head-to-head with your any options and your own customizable team.

Each sport comes with a good tutorial that explains how to play and the basic controls.  We particularly liked tennis, bowling and snowmobile racing.
