Game Details:

If you haven’t heard the buzz about Disc Drivin’ already, then you need to be more informed.  Disc Drivin’ is a simple, fun, turn-based, ‘Mario-Kart-esque’ racing game with gorgeous graphics.  You pilot a disc around 15 separate tracks to see who can finish three laps the quickest. When it’s your move, you simply flick the disc in the direction you want it to go.  As the disc travels down the track you accrue progress towards six separate power-ups that add a level of strategy to the mix.  There are also various obstacles and power-ups on the track.  The developers are constantly improving the game via free updates, so it’s a steal at just 3 dollars.

The backbone of the game is multiplayer and it is executed flawlessly.  If you only have one device, you can choose to pass and play with up to eight players.  If you have friends with a separate iPad/iPhone you can play locally via Bluetooth or over Wifi with up to four players.  The game takes advantage of push-notifications so you know exactly when it’s your turn for a move.  There is also Facebook and Twitter integration so it’s easy to connect with friends.

The menus are a little difficult to navigate through if you don’t know what you are looking for.   There is no basic tutorial and there is small learning curve when it comes to the controls.  There is also an integrated chat function, but with no way to turn it off, so you don’t know who you are talking to on the other side.  However, if the game is limited to just pass-and-play, this isn’t a concern.  There isn’t any educational value, but the mechanics are fun, the physics are well done and it’s a nicely polished game.
