ESRB Rating Summary

Game System: Wii
Publisher: Disney Interactive

Family Friendly Video Games Approved
Family Friendliness: Disney Channel All-Star Party is a very fun collection of mini-games that’s presented very well.  If you or your family are fans of the Disney Channel’s most popular shows, you’ll love the opportunity to compete as, against or among the cast and settings from your favorite shows.  With a great mixture of competitive and cooperative gameplay, we definitely recommend this one as a great way for families to let loose with their kids and tweens.

Highlights:
- Very cute Mii-like versions of Disney characters such as the Jonas Brothers and Zack and Cody are mixed with the ability to use your own Miis, making it a fun way for your family to interact with popular Disney shows.

- Nearly all the mini-games are accessible right away, which is great for families who want to jump right into the fun of their favorite shows.

- The tutorial for each mini-game makes it really clear how to play and hold the Wii-mote.
Lowlights:
- Although younger kids who aren’t strong readers can enjoy most of the action, they’ll be hindered slightly by the mini-games that require everyone to answer questions.  Luckily, the developers made sure that the winners of these particular games aren’t necessarily the ones who answer fastest.

- After playing a full game and competing to be the winner, we found the game to end rather abruptly and go back to the Main Menu, so be careful when you’re near the end if you want to make sure to see the final standings.

Game Details:

Disney All-Star Party features cute, Mii-style characters from many of the Disney Channel’s most popular shows, including Hannah Montana, Suite Life With Zack and Cody, Wizards of Waverly Place, Jonas LA, Camp Rock 2, Sonny With a Chance, and even Phineas & Ferb.

The game allows players to choose one of the Disney characters, or to use their Mii, and compete in fun mini-games centered around each of the above shows.  Each of the different show “worlds” has  four or five mini-games to compete in, and players can either jump right and play each mini-game individually, or play a 3-, 5-, 7- or 9- round game in which different players compete for control over which mini-games will be played.

When playing a full game, players will each choose which world they want to go to, and then compete in a quick reflex challenge in which they must flick or wave the remote a certain way.  The first one to do this correctly gets control, and then chooses a mini-game in the world they selected.

Each mini-game has an order of finish, and while most are four-player in which players are competing against each other individually, there are a few cooperative games which will split players into two-on-two teams.  Players will gather points depending on how they do in each mini-game, and all of these points will count towards a player’s cumulative title to see who will win.

There are lots of fun and clever mini-games here, especially for fans of these Disney Channel shows.  Some events will have you flying, others will see you racing, and there’s also a few that asks you to answer questions.  All have excellent tutorials immediately before you begin that makes it really clear what actions you are supposed to perform with the Wii, and how you should hold it.

The action can be fast and fun, and even in individual challenges, sometimes everyone will take turns competing against the other three players, so there’s lots of different opportunities for both competitive and cooperative gameplay even in the same game.

One thing we did notice when playing through a full game, was that at the end of all the rounds, we were quickly taken back to the main menu.  If you’re not playing attention or someone accidentally presses the button too quickly, it can be easy to miss the final results you’ve been playing for.

*FamilyFriendlyVideoGames.com Favorite* - This was one of our favorite family-friendly video games we saw at the E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June.  Here's what we had to say about it then:

Disney Channel All-Star Party is a fun new twist on party games, starring characters from popular Disney Channel shows such as Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers, Sonny With a Chance, Suite Life with Zack and Cody, Camp Rock and Wizards of Waverly Place.  In addition to being able to play as characters from these shows, players can also use their own Miis in the game.

Disney Channel All-Star Party uses mini-games to provide players with control of the gameboard.  At the beginning of a turn, every player will pick an area they’d like to explore (like the Sonny With a Chance set, for example), and then everyone battles it out to see who gets to choose the location.  Whoever wins the mini-game gets to choose where to take people, and then from there the actual battle begins for points.

This game includes lots of music from the popular shows, and allows for four players to play at the same time, many times competing head-to-head on screen simultaneously.

Disney Channel All-Star Party seems like the perfect game for any gathering of tweens, and is also a great chance for parents to be able to connect with their kids who are big Disney Channel fans.
