Disney Sing It: Party Hits is a singing and karaoke game that allows families to sing along with some of today’s most popular music, including songs from many of the Disney Channel Stars. In order to play, you’ll need at least one microphone and at least one Wii-mote. Even if that’s all you have, you can still play with up to 8 players. If you don’t already have a microphone, you can buy a version of the game that comes with one.
You’ll use the Wii-mote to navigate through the menus, and then when it’s time to sing, you’ll use the microphone. Disney Sing It: Party Hits offers lots of sing along options, including whether or not you want to sing along with the regular version of the tune, or try to sing karaoke-style, with the words muted.
In party mode, you can select to play with up to 8 different players. There are six different game modes such as Duet, in which two players sing together; Pass the Mic, in which different players are assigned different parts of the song to sing; and Performance, which is for real pros who already know all the words and don’t need any on-screen assistance. The three other game modes are Competition, Sing Off and Team.
The track list is a great mix of popular hits and songs from Disney Channel favorites. You’ll find songs from the Black-Eyed Peas, One Republic, Jason Mraz, Colbie Callait, Justin Bieber, and even the “10 Million Fireflies” song from Owl City. The game also features quite a few songs from Camp Rock 2, The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Ashley Tisdale and more Disney favorites.
The game also comes with a nice “Vocal Coach” feature starring Demi Lovato, who not only teaches the basics of singings, but also works on advanced techniques such as glissado and riffing. If you have kids who are interested in singing, it’s a pretty neat tool to teach them some of the details of the craft.
One of the highlights of the Disney Sing It games is the ability to play back the vocal track that you just sang as an “Encore” immediately after you’re done singing. Party Hits has six cool ways to hear your voice back, ranging from Normal to Echo to our favorite, Squeaky. Although we’re sure it’s enjoyable when someone who actually knows how to sing gets played back, it’s equally hilarious to hear the audio track of someone who’s not very good.
There’s a lot to like about Disney Sing It: Party Hits as a game for families to enjoy together. Not only are there a variety of cooperative and competitive modes, but the game’s tracklist does a good job of combining today’s popular music with songs from Disney stars that your kids may know better than you do. We definitely recommend Disney Sing It: Party Hits for families who are ready to Let Loose and sing together.
