Family Friendliness: We really enjoyed the unique art style of Fancy Nancy Tea Party, and like that THQ is making a game that isn’t all about fighting or battling.  Although the game will appeal mostly to 5-8 year old girls, the game is a bit difficult, and is very reading intensive.  This game is probably perfect for daughters in that age ranch, but is likely too hard for younger kids, and the content may not appeal to older ones.

Highlights:
- Neat art style and setting transforms players to the Fancy Nancy universe, and should appeal to young girls.
Lowlights:
- We found the controls to be difficult to figure out during the side-to-side portion of the game.

- Although the different outfits for Fancy Nancy are cute, the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining them, and we had to figure out what they were good for through trial and error.

Game Details:

Fancy Nance Tea Party for Nintendo DS is a game for young girls, and provides a mix of gameplay styles set in the Fancy Nancy universe.

Directions and instructions are all written, and there are a lot of them to read.   So since this game is aimed at girls who are of the age that they are just sharpening their reading skills, this game can make great reading practice.

As players control Fancy Nancy to help coordinate the tea party, they’ll be able to change into different tea party “outfits” which provide different abilities.  For example, the butterfly outfit gives Nancy the chance to fly, while the ballerina outfit helps her jump.  Although this does make some sense, the game doesn’t necessarily explain this very clearly, and some of the obstacles and levels we had to go through we actually found kind of difficult.
