Family Friendliness: Fruit Ninja Kinect is the perfect Kinect game for families – it’s fun to play together for kids (and grown-ups) of all ages.  Even young kids will be able to step right up and into the fun. The game designers made Fruit Ninja Kinect simple enough to be enjoyed by kids as young as three years old.

Highlights:
- Simple to play game mechanic will appeal to players of all ages.

- Menu system is really easy to navigate, with the slicing action that's used in-game also used to make selections.

- Between levels during load screens, there are fun facts about fruit and fruit trees presented.  So there's even a bit of educational value here in Fruit Ninja Kinect.
Lowlights:
- This is probably more of a function of the Kinect than anything, but when two players are side by side and vigorously chopping at the air, there's obviously a big risk of someone getting hit.

Game Details:

This downloadable Kinect game is based on the wildly popular Fruit Ninja app, and will have kids of all ages slicing their way through flying fruit, trying to get the highest score.

Fruit Ninja Kinect features a few different modes to allow players to play cooperatively or head-to-head.  In Arcade mode, it’s a battle to slice and score as much as you can.  Classic Mode asks players to keep playing until they make a mistake. Zen mode lets you simply slice fruit, withoug worryin about a timer or having to avoid bombs.  Two-players can go side-to-side, and either compete or work together in Party mode.

Controls and selections are very simple, and can be made by players simply performing a slicing motion as their shadowy silhouette lines up with targets onscreen.

We love the simple gameplay and controls, and are happy to say Fruit Ninja Kinect has emerged as our favorite Kinect game we've ever played.

INFORMATION FROM ANNOUNCEMENT PRESS RELEASE

Fruit Ninja Kinect takes all the frenzied fruit slicing action of the highly popular and addictive mobile game and brings it full scale as players trade in finger chops for full body motion slicing, swinging their arms to cut through an endless cascade of flying fruits while trying to avoid dangerous bombs.

“Fruit Ninja Kinect is perfect for the Kinect system,” said Phil Larsen, marketing director of Halfbrick. “Not only is the game intuitive, challenging and fun, it’s even a bit of a workout. With the added bonuses of being able to play side-by-side another player and compare scores on the XBLA leaderboards, we’re really taking the Fruit Ninja experience to a whole new level.”

Following the simple yet addictive mechanics that made Fruit Ninja such a breakout success on mobile devices, Fruit Ninja Kinect stays true to the spirit of the beloved title while expanding players’ experience with new gameplay modes and unlockable content.

There are three single player modes: slice for the highest score while avoiding bombs in Classic Mode, serenely slice through 90 seconds of Zen Mode, or throw intense power-ups into the mayhem with Arcade Mode. Fruit Ninja Kinect alsoadds local multiplayer so Fruit Ninjas can slice side-by-side in pursuit of unlockable blades, backgrounds, avatar shadows and Achievements that only the quickest ninjas will conquer. True masters of fruit ninjutsu searching the lands for a worthy opponent can climb the online leaderboards, but only ninjas able to decimate the mysterious pomegranate—a rare fruit that players can attack furiously in bullet-time—will claim the highest scores.

With more than 25 million downloads worldwide on mobile devices and top sales chart rankings in more than 60 countries, Fruit Ninja is already an international sensation, and the Kinect version adds a whole new dimension to the frenzy.
