Gesundheit is a puzzle game with a quirky twist and amazing graphics and artstyle. As you begin the game, you are treated to a slightly raunchy introduction showing the main character, that somewhat resembles a green pig, and his struggles with a runny nose. All of the sudden, the town is overrun with monsters who consequently love to follow, you guessed it, snot. You quickly learn that you can distract these monsters by sneezing.
After viewing the rather funny cut-scene, you begin the game. The first level starts with a nice tutorial that takes you through the basics of the controls. To move your character, you simply touch on the screen where you want him to go. It then walks you through the basics to solving each level. Every puzzle contains a number of enemies that need to be captured in bear traps. The enemies stay still and are attracted to two things: You and your snot. This leads to the next aspect of the controls which involves shooting snot from your nose. Just like moving your character, this requires a very simple action. All you have to do is swipe your finger back and a dotted line appears showing you the path. Pull further away from your character and your snot covers more ground.
To move on to the next level, all you have to do is capture all of the monsters in their associated traps. However, there is a side goal which consists of collecting three stars that are placed throughout the level. The key is getting the stars before trapping the enemies. This adds an additional level of strategy to an already fun puzzle game.
Your progress is saved on a larger map and you can replay every level as much as you want. The game is also split up into various maps and you must achieve a certain number of stars before moving on. This just gave us more motivation to go back and perfect the earlier levels.
We admit that the sound of flinging snot is less than appealing, but we assure you that the game is tastefully presented. There’s also some light-hearted music that matches the cartoony artstlye to give the game a very fun appeal to it. Although the puzzles start off easy, they do get difficult later on as you progress through the game. Some may see this as a nice challenge, but the younger ones might find this a bit frustrating. However, since progress is based on the number of stars you accumulate, you do have the option to skip some levels.
Gesundheit! HD is a fun, witty and cute puzzler with depth. Not only will you spend a considerable amount of time getting through the game, you will definitely be inspired to go back and perfect each level. We recommend this game for anyone who is looking for a casual puzzler with a bit of challenge.
