Family Friendliness: Even though the game is about shooting, Greg Hastings Paintball 2 is an interesting choice for families because it highlights and even educates about the popular sport of paintball.  While many parents may enjoy more mature shooting games in their own time, Greg Hastings Paintball 2 could be a great game to play with tweens and teens who may not be ready to be exposed to more violent offerings.

Highlights:

- Nice graphics and re-creation of the fast-paced paintball atmosphere.  The farther away your aim, the more your paintball drops on its way there, which feels like a nice re-creation of how it would feel in real life.

- Throughout the game’s load screens, there are interesting facts about the history of the sport of paintball, which serve as a nice education who are interested in this information.

Lowlights:

- The game is clearly aimed towards gamers who play these types of games, and may not be the best option for folks not familiar with shooting games.  For example, the game calls the multiplayer option “Local Split Screen,” which likely doesn’t mean much to someone not familiar with the video game jargon.

- Although it’s neat that we could select what are presumably real-life paintball players to be on our teams, the reality is that most of these players may as well have been anonymous, and we weren’t really sure what criteria we should be using to form our teams.

Game Details:

Greg Hastings Paintball 2 is a nice game for families looking to play a non-violent shooting game.  The game does an excellent job of teaching many of the basic strategies, rules and history of paintball as a sport.

The game offers players a simple and quick tutorial on how to run, shoot, crouch and more, and pretty quickly throws players into a capture the flag battle on a closed paintball course with artificial barriers.  As expected, players will run with the left joystick while aiming and turning with the right stick.  The right trigger fires the paintball gun, while the b-button reloads.

Two players can simultaneously play split-screen, and can play either competitively or cooperatively in one of the game’s many different modes and maps.  As in real paintball, one hit from an opponent and you are out, although the game does give you the option to try and “cheat” and wipe off your hit and continue.

Even though the game is about shooting, Greg Hastings Paintball 2 is an interesting choice for families because it highlights and even educates about the popular sport of paintball.  While many parents may enjoy more mature shooting games in their own time, Greg Hastings Paintball 2 could be a great game to play with tweens and teens who may not be ready to be exposed to more violent offerings.

I've played paintball for years now, and I'm so happy to see a dedicated paintball game.. before I had to settle for sketchy paintball mods on games like Counter Strike. Greg Hastings is a legend in paintball, so him being behind the game is a huge plus. Another one is.. the game is only $40 brand new!!! I believe it runs on the 360, Wii and PS3 platforms, I own the 360 version. This game is riddled with realistic paintball(ness). Personally having an indescribable love and respect for the sport, this is by far my favourite game.. yes even above counter strike, call of duty, gears of war, halo, medal of honor, all of em! I can't always afford to go paintballing on the weekends, so I always have this game ready and willing to substitute! Personally, I'd say this game is perfectly fine for even 3 year olds! When a player gets hit, here's a quote (there are lots of things they say, this is just one): "Aww man, I'm out!". So as you can see the game isn't cursing and swearing and getting into fights with itself, it's just wholesome fun. If you consider this game to be too much for your child, you might want to keep them out of Chuck E. Cheese, as it's 1,000x more offensive or agressive than this game could even hope to be. Amazing game of an amazing sport, 100/100!!

In a world where video games are graphic and now made for adults, its cool to have something the whole family can get around and splat each other, with easy controls, and vibrant colors it makes for a great time in front of the TV for everyone!!!!
