Highlights:
-- Lots of fun and creative mini-games with different gameplay styles.  Our family particularly enjoyed learning how to make sushi.

-- Kids may feel a sense of accomplishment and the value of the Friendship points they've invested time and effort to learn.

Lowlights:
-- Somewhat difficult mini-games will be frustrating for younger gamers.

-- The city can sometimes be confusing to navigate.  It took us a while to figure out that you could take the train do different parts of the city.

Game Details:

In Hello Kitty Big City Dreams, players use the DS control pad or stylus to move Hello Kitty around the city where she just moved.  The goal is to gather enough "Friendship Points" (the game's currency) to be able to move up to the penthouse apartment.

As players guide Hello Kitty throughout the city, they'll encounter other characters from the Hello Kitty Universe, with whom they can interact for the chance to earn Friendship points.  They may hire a boat to try and take pictures of animals, take a turn in restaurant serving customers or making sushi, or trace their characters.

There are lots of really cute animations and a lot of fun things to do in the city, even if getting around can sometimes be a bit confusing.  You can only walk certain places which aren't always clearly marked, and you'll also need to figure out how to take the train and/or bus to access different parts of town.

The mini-games can be quite difficult and demanding, and could be discouraging for younger gamers.  While some mini-games may seem easy at first, others will take more than a few tries to master. Additionally, there's a complete emphasis on reading all instructions in this game, so you'll need to make sure your DS reader is a strong reader.

Although gameplay sessions can easily stretch out, this game is best enjoyed over multiple different gameplay sessions as you can work to build up enough money to "move on up" to the penthouse.

Hello Kitty Big City Dreams offers a family-friendly single player experience that isn't just for fans of the Sanrio universe.  Kids and tweens will enjoy exploring the city and the variety of mini-games that are available for them to earn Friendship points.
