Family Friendliness: Older kids and tweens may be ready for more advanced and challenging compilations, but if your family has young kids and is looking for a game to share together, Get Moving: Family Fitness is a highly-recommended collection that will get everyone up and moving and thinking about fitness.

Highlights:
-With verbal voice prompts and on-screen demonstrations of controls, even young kids who can’t read should be able to understand what is going on.

-There are 11 different background environments to choose from, and they’re all extremely and cute and in some way woven into the gameplay.

-The game’s emphasis on movement will help make sure your family is moving, even if they think they are just having fun.
Lowlights:

-Despite appeal to young kids, a few mini-games (such as the flying race) are pretty difficult and require a higher level of coordination.

Game Details:

Jump Start: Get Moving - Family Fitness is a collection of mini-games designed to encourage big body movements and exercise for the whole family.  Hosted by a video-game version of well-known spokesmodel and Dancing With the Stars host Brooke Burke, Get Moving Family Fitness features more than 15 different mini-games in activities such as basketball, volleyball, football, baseball and racing.

Each game can be played as a single-player activity, or head-to-head.

The game is compatible with the Wii Balance Board, but it is not necessary to play most games (one game, Step Aerobics, requires it).  Some games also require a nunchuk, but not all of them.

Each mini-game asks you to perform some sort of action that mimics the on-screen activity, such as shooting a basketball, moving your arms while running or swinging a baseball bat.

One of the the things we really liked about Jump Start: Get Moving Family Fitness were the many different and cool background environments available for each activity.  You can choose things like outer space, underwater, Egyptian-themed, a farm setting, a miniature world from a bugs point-of-view and more.  And these are than more just backgrounds, elements and characters from these setting are incorporated into your mini-games.

Before each mini-game, Brooke Burke also appears on-screen to demonstrate the controls to make sure you understand what you need to do.  The text menu screens also have voice prompts featuring Brooke Burke.  And between games, there’s often a useful fitness tip that appears on-screen.

Get Moving: Family Fitness features a varied array of mini-games that even the youngest Wii gamer should be able to play.  Although some activities are more difficult than others, they are all presented in a very cute package that is appropriate to share with even young members of the family.  Older kids and tweens may be ready for more advanced and challenging compilations, but if your family has young kids and is looking for a game to share together, Get Moving: Family Fitness is a highly-recommended collection that will get everyone up and moving and thinking about fitness.
