Family Friendliness: Kinect Adventures is a title that really shows off the movement and range possible when your body is the controller with the Kinect.  In our testing, we saw kids as young as 3 able to succesfully compete, and even 1-year-olds wanted to stand in front of the camera and mimic the action.  Although not all the mini-games are perfect, Kinect Adventures is a great example of the possibilities of fun, easy-to-play cooperative and competitive gameplay for families that aren't afraid to let loose.

Highlights:
- Five different mini-games offer a nice mix of cooperative and competitive action, and provide a wide demonstration of the different ways that you can use your body as the controller.

- The in-game pictures are a great feature, and it's cool that the photos are automatically saved so they can be shared later.

- The Kinect sensor did a great job of letting people walk in and out of the action, even while the game is going on.
Lowlights:
- The game designates who is in charge of selecting menus, so sometimes it may select a gamer who's either not old enough or coordinated enough to set the commands.  This can be solved by simply having them walk offscreen.

Game Details:

Kinect Adventures comes packaged with the Kinect Sensor, and offers a great variety of games to play cooperatively and competitively that showcases the Kinect technology.

There are five different mini-games in Kinect Adventures, all of which will have you jumping up down and all around to control the action.

Rallyball is sort of like Breakout or Pong - except you're the paddle.  You'll need to jump and stretch your arms and legs in order to keep the ball (and in some cases, multiple balls) in play as you try and break all the boxes.  Two players can play simulataneously side-by-side.

River Rush puts you in a raft where you lean from side to side to steer, and need to jump and maneuver to collect Adventure tokens, which are the game's currency.  Each level actually has multiple ways to progress through, and if you do it right, you'll find yourself rafting through the clouds.  Again, two players can play side-by-side.

Reflex Ridge is a competitive mini-game in which each player controls a cart and needs to duck, jump and dodge obstacles while trying to collect as many Adventure tokens as possible.  When two players play, it is head-to-head competitive.

Space Pop is a simple game in which you fly and try and pop bulbbles in three dimensional space.  You'll need to move forward and side to side, flapping your arms to rise, and ducking down to fall.  When two players play, it is cooperatively, and all Adventure tokens are shared.

20,000 Leaks is a mini-game that has players plug leaks in an underwater tank in which fish and sharks keep ramming the glass, causing small leaks to occur.  It's ultimately a good demonstration of the Kinect technology, but probably our least favorite mini-game.

One other great feature of Kinect Adventures is how the game periodically takes your picture as you are playing.  These photos are stored on your XBox and can be shared with others.
