ESRB Rating Summary

Game System: Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 Kinect
Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios
Players: 4
Family Friendly Video Games Approved
Family Friendliness: GamerPops.com:  Kinect Joy Ride is really a racing game that anyone can get into, and with multiplayer a viable option. Plus, for better or worse, the controls ensure that everyone from kids to teens to grandparents will all be on equal footing when they go head to head.  Sure, the game would be better if it used a traditional controller, but then it would lose its distinctiveness in a somewhat full and generic kart racer genre.

Highlights:
- Fun multiplayer mode is great for two players to go head-to-head.
Lowlights:
- The only real drawback to Kinect Joy Ride, from a family perspective, is that the controls are simple in concept, but not necessarily that easy in execution, especially for younger gamers, who may find the imaginary steering wheel difficult to get used to.

*FamilyFriendlyVideoGames.com Favorite* - This was one of our favorite family-friendly video games we saw at the E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June 2010.   Here's what we had to say about it then:

Kinect Joy Ride is scheduled to be one of the first games available for Microsoft’s new Kinect add-on for Xbox 360.  The game is designed as an easy-to-play kart racer, which sees you race around the track and pull of crazy flips and other stunts as you go off big jumps.

The controls appear to primarily consist of simlulating holding a steering wheel in your hand, although leaning appears to help your car take tight turns.   When you go off a jump, different motions will lead to different stunts for your car.

Kinect Joy Ride looks to be a fun racer that is perfect to get family members of nearly age behind the wheel and racing.

“Kinect Joy Ride” reinvents driving and kart racing by adding massive jumps and full-body stunts to the classic kart racing action.
