INFORMATION FROM E3 2010:
Kinectimals is scheduled to be one of the first games available for Microsoft’s new Kinect add-on for Xbox 360. The purpose of the game is to interact with a pet cat, such as a tiger, panther, lynx or more.
In the demonstration we saw at the E3 2010 video game trade show in Los Angeles, we saw a six- or seven-year-old girl play and interact with her pet tiger named Skittles. The tiger responded and reacted to her commands and actions. She used her hands to simulate reaching out and petting the tiger, and also offered verbal commands such as “jump,” “turn around” and “play dead.”
The young girl also interacted with her pet tiger by playing fetch, jumping rope and even hiding from it, which caused the tiger to get sort of sad and come even closer to the screen to see where she went.
Kinectimals appears to be a cute title that will appeal to younger kids, with command-based interactions that don’t always require precise coordination.
