Family Friendly Video Games Approved
Family Friendliness: Although the game is rated E 10+, we still recommend it for kids as young as 7 or 8.  Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is a great cooperative experience, with a clear sense of humor.  Many of the game's puzzles require teamwork, and the game utilizes a diagonal split-screen feature in order to let both players travel to different areas simultaneously.  Although there really isn't a way to die in this type of game, players will respawn, and there is a fair amount of swordplay.  But at the end of the day, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is a great game for families with kids and tweens to play cooperatively together.

Highlights:
- Graphics are greatly improved from previous Lego games.

- Split screen co-operative mode is great for letting both players explore.

- The game's cutscenes are very cool, and have a great sense of humor.

- Younger players will be helped out by arrows which help point you in the direction you need to go.
Lowlights:
- Although the split screen cooperative mode is cool, sometimes the diagonal shape of it hides areas of the screen you'd like to see.

- Our 13- and 11- year old testers found the puzzles to be frustrating at times, although they eventually figured them out.

Game Details:

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is an adventure game based on all four of the popular Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and is a great cooperative experience for kids.

We tested the PS3 version of Lego Pirates of the Caribbean with a 13-year-old and a 11-year-old, and both were extremely satisfied with the gameplay.

The 13-year-old particularly enjoyed the game's graphics and sense of humor, while the 11-year-old loved the "Lego-ey" aspects of the game.

The basic gameplay in Lego Pirates of the Caribbean consists of maneuvering around the screen, battling bad guys and collecting Lego pieces to build objects to help you or to solve puzzles to allow you to progress.  It's perfect for two players, as the screen splits in half to allow for exploration by either character.

Scenes from all four Pirates of the Caribbean movies are featured in Lego Pirates of the Carribbean, meaning families will be able to relive moments from Dead Man's Chest, At World's End, Curse of the Black Pearl and On Stranger Tides.

Although the game is rated E 10+, we still recommend it for kids as young as 7 or 8 playing with someone older.  Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is a great cooperative experience, with a sense of humor that will appeal to both kids and adults.
