Let’s Play Ballerina for both DS and Wii are fun single-player games that transport players into the world of a ballet school. And while the game is heavily themed towards ballet, the main gameplay is rhythm based, asking you to tap notes or help players keep balance in time with the music.
The game is not overly difficult, and is definitely accessible to younger kids and perhaps even some older toddlers who are familiar with playing the Wii and DS. Generally speaking, the gameplay consists of notes appearing at various spots on the screen, and it’s up to the player to tap the note in time with a circle that closes in around it. The closer the circle is to being the same size as the note, the more “perfect” the result.
The Wii version also offers an educational component, which allows players to read about the history of Ballet and biographies of important ballet dancers as they progress through the game.
Although a fun and cute experience, Let’s Play Ballerina doesn’t offer much opportunity for families to play together. However, for kids interested in ballet or parents looking to expose their kids to some classical music themes, this is a solid easy-to-play recommendation.
