Family Friendliness: We think Let’s Play Flight Attendant is a great game for kids, tweens and grown-ups alike.  Just be aware that the storyline and characters seem straight out of the ‘60s.  We recommend Let’s Play Flight Attendant as the perfect DS game to bring along on a long flight – since you’re already in an airport state-of-mind anyway, why not play along?

Highlights:
-  Clever, fun and varied selection of mini-games, including one that is based on the pre-flight safety announcement.  How funny is that?
Lowlights:
-  Heavy use of the word “stewardess” and old-fashioned stereotypes don’t necessarily detract from enjoyment of game, but are definitely noticeable and at times felt a bit awkward.

Game Details:

Let’s Play Flight Attendant for the DS is a collection of airport-themed mini-games, tied together by a cute storyline that focuses on a new flight attendant starting a new job.

As you progress through each “day” on the game’s calendar, you’re assigned different jobs at the airport, such as loading luggage onto the right plane, checking passengers in, directing planes to the right gate and more.  There’s even a mini-game that asks you to help do the right gestures for the pre-flight boarding announcement.

Each mini-game is fun and unique, and we really enjoyed them and think they’ll appeal to a broad range of ages, from kids and up.

The one negative to the game worth noting is that the storyline and even gender stereotypes of the characters seem a bit old-fashioned.  It was actually sort of amazing to us how strange it looks to see flight attendants referred to as “stewardesses,” especially in the context of conversations between  the macho pilot and the giddy new “stewardess.”  To be clear, there’s nothing overly offensive or even inappropriate about the storyline, it just felt dated and a bit old-fashioned.

We think Let’s Play Flight Attendant is a great game for kids, tweens and grown-ups alike.  Just be aware that the storyline and characters seem straight out of the ‘60s.  We recommend Let’s Play Flight Attendant as the perfect DS game to bring along on a long flight – since you’re already in an airport state-of-mind anyway, why not play along?
