Liquid Electronics is an App that is actually 5 games in one, all based on the same basic gameplay. By tilting your iPhone or iPad, you control onscreen glob of liquid, and you need to move it around the screen to accomplish various tasks.
The tasks depend on the game you are playing, but they all have a very similar look and feel, with the gameboard laid out nearly identically with various circles spaced throughout the area. The different games each have employ the circles in different ways. Here’s a closer look:
Light Tag – Use the accelerometer to move the colored liquid onto random redlights and “tag” them while they are still lit up. The goal is to turn on all the red lights in each level before time runs out.
Splitter – In this game, you want to split your liquid blob into two using the slicer in the middle of the screen, and then maneuver both globs simultaneously to the two lit lights.
Sound Match – This game is sort of like concentration, and you must listen to the sounds made by each light that you go over. The goal is to match up identical sounds in order, and there’s one sound that requires lighting three different lights simultaneously.
Obey Commands – Follow and remember the sequence of the flashing lights, then help your glob recreate the exact order without hitting any other lights.
Splitter Extremes – This is an even more challenging version of Splitter, in which you have a very short time limit to maneuver multiple blobs onto green lights.
The gameplay is basic and simple, making Liquid Electronics accessible to a broad range of ages. The levels with time limits can be pretty challenging, though, and even those without require some pretty precise movements. This app is suitable for elementary aged kids, and games like Sound Match and Obey Commands will even require them to exercise a little brain power as they play.
