GamerPops.com: LittleBigPlanet 2 is tough game to define as to whether it’s good for a younger audience. The creativity and spirit of fun are definitely worth exploring, and the overall aesthetic of the game and its characters will undoubtedly appeal to kids. The game’s cooperative mode makes it great for playing together, and the nearly limitless volume of extra user generated content available from the community and the replayability of the story mode’s levels to accumulate all of the items mean the value of LittleBigPlanet 2 is tremendously high, always something we look for in a family title. In the final analysis, this is probably going to be a family by family situation: some will love it, others won’t.

Highlights:
- There are three distinct aspects to LittleBigPlanet 2, with each bringing something different and valuable to the package: Story Mode, Creation Mode and Community Mode.
- If your child has an interest in what it’s like to design and build games, LittleBigPlanet 2 can provide some insight, not only into the sheer variety of tools at your disposal as a game designer, but also the extreme detail and minutia involved.
|
|
Lowlights:
- Loose controls made some levels tough to enjoy. Even though we thought we did things right on the controller, the game didn’t seem to react the right way.

ESRB Rating Summary: This is a side-scrolling platformer game in which players help a small doll (Sackboy) traverse through whimsical environments. As players run and jump through levels and avoid obstacles (e.g., flame-throwing turrets, electrified platforms), they can user their helmet to fire rockets, water, and cake at enemies called "meanies." Meanies break apart and disappear in puffs of smoke when defeated. In one level, doll characters can be seen smacking one another to the ground. Players can also customize some levels by assigning burp and flatulence sound effects to various objects.
