Family Friendliness: MLB Bobblehead Pros is a cool baseball game that’s got some great ways to play together.  The difficulty level is a little higher than we were expected, and may require a bit too much coordination for younger kids.  Older kids and tweens should love the quick and simple gameplay of MLB Bobblehead Pros.

Highlights:
- We love how there are multiple ways to play together.  Two players can either be on the same team, both controlling the action (and swinging) simultaneously, or pass the controller back and forth as they take turns batting.

Lowlights:
- Although listed as an option on the menu screen, playable modes such as Home Run Derby require an additional purchase to play.

- Batting was particularly difficult, requiring players to manipulate their batting zone and time their swings.  Precise timing and coordination are required.

Game Details:

MLB Bobblehead Pros is a baseball game that’s available as downloadable content from Xbox Live, featuring real-life players and rosters.  The players are made to look as if they resemble bobblehead figures.  Each one has a big head that somewhat resembles them, the bobblehead effect is noticeable (and somewhat annoying) as the players heads continually jitter.

There are a few different ways to play MLB Bobblehead Pros.  Players can choose Quickplay to go for a quick matchup of two teams, or choose to play through a season.  Within season mode, players can either play each game, choose to have the computer simulate it, or do a little bit of both as they manage the moves but have the computer do the actual playing.

When playing MLB Bobblehead Pros, the controls change depending on what a player needs to do.

Each pitcher has a few different pitches which can be selected with a joystick direction, and then each pitch needs to be aimed.

For batters, they must track the ball as it comes in the strike zone, and work to choose where to swing in addition to when to swing.  It’s actually somewhat difficult, and requires a good deal of timing and coordination.  Younger kids who may like the bobblehead appearance of the characters may be frustrated by their inability to hit the ball.

Once a ball in play, fielding is relatively simple as the game automatically switches to the closest character.  Big red circles indicate where the ball is headed, and fielders can jump or dive for the ball with a simple button press.  After they have a ball, throwing to base is as simple as pressing the corresponding button.

Runners can pretty easily advance or retreat when a ball is in play as well.  It’s a simple button press for each option.
