Michael Jackson The Experience Kinect is a great party game that will have families dancing and singing along with the King of Pop.
There are two main modes to Michael Jackson The Experience Kinect, Solo and Party mode. In Solo mode, you’re on your own as you take on Michael’s greatest hits, in environments based on the many iconic music videos.
There are different options for each song: A Dance mode and a Performance mode. Dance mode is all dance moves, and involves mimicking the onscreen moves of back up dancers. The better you do, the more points you’ll score.
In Performance mode, you’ll alternate between singing parts of the song and dancing them. The singing is actual pretty cool because it doesn’t use a microphone, but instead sounds are picked up by the Kinect sensor. It’s a neat feeling of performing, but definitely not as detailed as other games that use a microphone and require more karaoke precision.
The Party mode in Michael Jackson The Experience for Kinect has two Modes – Co-op and Battle. Battle is two-player head to head, but Co-Op supports up to four players at the same time, all contributing to an overall score. The Co-Op mode is the most fun that our family had playing Michael Jackson The Experience Kinect, as we just enjoyed singing and dancing along together to the MJ songs, and weren’t that worried about winners and losers.
There’s actually a third mode for this game called “MJ School,” which involves videos of performers teaching Michael’s dance moves, but for us this was a waste of time. Players who are into dancing and are looking to learn some real-life moves may benefit from and enjoy these videos, but we think casual families just looking to dance to some MJ tunes needn’t worry about checking all of them out.
For families that are looking to have a good time dancing to some of the most iconic pop music ever released, Michael Jackson The Experience for Kinect offers a perfect blend of dancing and singing. The four player co-op mode is fun to get multiple family members up and moving together. Kids as young as 6 can sing and dance along with their parents or older siblings, you’ll just need to watch out for videos and songs that may have some suggestive lyrics.
