Family Friendliness:
Nickelodeon Dance is a great way to get young kids up and moving to their favorite Nick Jr. characters.  The controls and scoring aren’t precise, and the dance moves aren’t too compiclated, which makes it great for preschoolers.  If your kids still like watching Nick Jr., then this is a great choice for them.

Highlights:
- Although tough to do, Nickelodeon Dance does the best job yet of making menu selections possible by very young kids.

- The preschoolers we played with love seeing Diego, Alicia and Dora dancing during the gameplay and playing Kinect during the tutorial screens.

Lowlights:
- The game is very basic and there aren’t many visible rewards for performing really well or really bad.   This is great for its target audience, but the kind of thing that’s worth mentioning here because older kids will become bored with this, unless they can derive fun from seeing the young players enjoy themselves.

Game Details:

Designed with preschoolers in mind, Nickelodeon Dance features characters from Dora, Fresh Beat Band, Diego and the Backyardigans.  2KPlay worked with a children’s choreographer and a fitness expert in designing this game.

The game features a fun mix of dance songs that even grown-ups will like, combined with familiar themes and tunes from Nick Jr. shows.  There are 30 songs in all, including the theme songs from Dora, Diego, Backyardigans and Fresh Beat bands, but also with Nick-character performed versions of well-known songs like Joy to the World, We Got the Beat, Oye Como Va.  There are Christmas songs, silly songs and more, providing plenty of fun ways for kids to move around.

Up to 2 players can be on screen at once, and they can jump in and out of the dance at any time.  Players will mimic the onscreen dance moves of the onscreen characters, earning stars for how well they perform.  Pretty much no matter how well (or poorly) they dance, the game offers encouragement, as the fun and importance of the game is simply having the kids up and moving around.
