POWER A Pro-Pack Mini Wii Controller

Release Date: August 31, 2010
Game System: Accessories
Publisher: POWER A
Players: 1
Family Friendly Video Games Approved
Family Friendliness: It’s impossible for families to play video games together without picking up some additional controllers.  While you can often get additional Wii-motes bundled with games like Wii Play, if you do end up needing to buy some extra Wii-motes, the Pro-Pack Mini from Power A is a highly recommended option due to its high-quality and well-thought out design.  The smaller size is not only helpful for younger kids with smaller hands, but also makes storing them a lot easier, too.

Highlights:
- Smaller controller is easy to hold, and easy to store.

- Elastimer finish feels high-quality.
Lowlights:
- The lights on it are brighter than a normal Wii-mote, and sometimes seem a little too bright.

- Once you get one, you may need to buy more, because everyone will want to use the Pro Pack Mini.

Game Details:

The Pro-Pack Mini from Power A is a controller that’s 35% smaller than a Wii-mote, even though at a glance it seems like 50% smaller.  It has a nice-feeling elastimer finish that makes it feel kind soft, but still durable.

Although they are marketing this game as simply a better Wii controller, an obvious benefit of a smaller controller is that it will fit more comfortably into younger kids hands.  Additionally, this greatly helps make storage more efficient, as our family is all about having a place for everything and everything in its place.

The Pro-Pack Mini operates on AAA batteries instead of AA batteries.  They’ve moved a couple things on the Wii-mote around to make it feel better, but nothing seems out of place, in fact you might even say they are improvements.

6 Year old son loves this, but will not work with motion-plus games such as Wii Sports Resort. I assume we can purchase add-on motion-plus, but then the cost is close to Wii brand controllers. Also having an issue with battery life using rechargeable NiMh energizer batteries. They last only about an hour of play. I may not have purchased this knowing some of these issues, but the ergonomic size is very good for his hands.
