Rabbids Travel In Time 3D is a 3-D side-scrolling game for Nintendo 3DS in which players must run, slide, jump, swing, swim and do other Rabbid-y things as they work their way back to the time-traveling washing machine.
Rabbids Travel In Time 3D has really neat graphics and cool cutscenes starring Ubisoft’s iconic Rabbids. But it’s not the 3D parts that make them cool. In fact, while the 3D is a neat effect, this game is really not aided by it, and it’s still just as fun even with the 3D effects turned off. While on one hand this may make you wonder why it’s on the 3DS, on the other hand this makes it a good game for kids younger than 7, because they’re not supposed to be playing with the 3D turned on anyway.
Players will use the circle pad to control characters, and can jump and thwack to make your way through levels by using the A and X buttons. There are times when the B and Y buttons come into play, but mostly the game involves moving with the circle pad and using the A and X buttons. The controls and gameplay are absolutely accessible for kids as young as 5, and see players working through levels with multiple paths, collecting ducks and other items along the way.
In Rabbids 3D, you start out in Pre-historic time, and after more than a dozen levels, you’ll finally make your way to the next era, the Egyptian desert. These overall worlds are surprisingly long, and it will take a while to unlock all four eras.
If you’ve played and enjoyed a Rabbids game before, you may be disappointed that the potty humor is severely dialed back. The Rabbids life bar takes the form of rolls of toilet paper, but other than that, this game is very innocent compared to other Rabbids offerings we’ve played.
With time travel as the basis, kids will be exposes to slight educational value as they go through the different eras in history. We wouldn’t call this game educational, but at least the levels are based on historical concepts. Probably the best part of the 3D experience of Rabbids Travel in Time 3D is the collectible figurines are which are based on the game’s four overall levels of history.
Rabbids Travel In Time 3D also has a high level of replayability. After you play each level once, you can go back and play them in a time limit challenge or in a mission-based mode in which you are collecting specific items.
Rabbids Travel In Time 3D has simple and enjoyable gameplay with a ton of different levels and collectible items. It’s highly replayable due to the mission and time based gameplay that’s unlocked after the first time you complete a level. The 3D effects don’t add much to the overall experience other than a “neato” factor, and each era has more than a dozen levels, so it takes a long time to be able to unlock all four of them. Rabbids Travel In Time 3D is a fun platformer game for kids and tweens, and one of our favorite 3DS games we’ve played. Families can turn the 3D effects off and the game can be enjoyed by kids as young as 5.
