Singstar Dance uses the PlayStation Move camera to place players into the game via what Sony calls “augmented reality.” This means you’ll be able to see your image on screen as you rock out to the hot Singstar hits.
One of the really cool things that PlayStation Move does is records you dancing while another player is singing, and the game takes pictures of “Golden Moments” (like when you do well). The game will also use the Move controller to act as props, such as tambourines or particle effects, so that you can enhance your on-screen performance.
The demo we saw of Singstar Dance at the E3 trade show in Los Angeles in June was definitely from a version that was early in development. However, Singstar Dance shows a lot of promise as a family-friendly title, with it’s ability to place family members on-screen while dancing to hit music.
The title should also appeal to young kids, too, so the only thing families will likely need to watch out for in this one is that all songs are age-appropriate whenever the list of in-game songs is finalized. We’ll obviously be keeping an eye on that here at FamilyFriendlyVideoGames.com.
