Team Umizoomi is a great way to introduce preschoolers and young kids to math concepts. It features more than 30 different math-based activities that focus on activities like sorting, counting, colors, patterns, geometry and measurement.
The game plays like an episode of Team Umizoomi, with players helping the team move from location to location to help solve problems. Kids will the aquarium, playground and Astronaut Center, and will use math to perform tasks like fixing the hopscotch courts, opening security doors and building submarines. All these activities can be played through like they are part of an episode, or selected individually when kids find ones they really like.
As Team Umizoomi goes from place to place, they’ll need to take the Umicar. Controls here are very simple, too, with the car simply driving toward wherever the stylus is placed on the screen.
Team Umizoomi is a perfect DS game for preschoolers – it’s packed with educational value, has verbal instructions so non-readers can understand, and contains hours and hours of entertainment that’s fun to replay. For pre-schoolers and early elementary aged kids, Team Umizoomi is one of our most highly recommended DS games.
