Family Friendliness: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 is much more than just a golf game, and will appeal to just about any family that has even a marginal interest or knowledge in the sport of golf.  Beyond the game’s enjoyable main golf game, which allows for different control schemes depending on a player’s skill level, families will love the addition of Frisbee golf, and can spend many "family game nights" competing in the game’s Golf Party mode.

Highlights:
-- Golf Party mode is an enjoyable mix of mini-games, which combines skills from the main golf and frisbee-golf games with other enjoyable golf-themed activities.

-- Frisbee golf is a fun and different way to experience the game’s spectacular golf courses, and may be an easier way for any family members who just can’t seem to master their golf swing.

-- Different control schemes for different skill levels help make this game accessible to nearly all ages.
Lowlights:
-- The motion for controlling the frisbee-golf mode of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 made us the most nervous we’ve ever been about hurling the Wii-mote at our TV.  Wriststraps are an absolute necessity.

-- As in real golf, there are so many ways to fine tune your swing and shot selection that you can sometimes overcomplicate things.  There are lots of ways to tweak what you’re doing, but sometimes it’s best to just keep it simple.

NOTE: - This Report Card is based on playing the Wii version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour '10.

If Tiger Woods PGA Tour '10 were judged only on its merits as a fun golf game, we'd have no problem recommending it for families, with its different styles of play based on a player’s skill level making it a fun challenge for all ages.  But this game offers even more than that, with frisbee-golf and an entertaining "golf party" collection of mini-games and is highly recommended for families that enjoy playing games together, especially if anyone in the family is at all interested in golf.

In the golf portion of Tiger Woods PGA Tour '10, you swing the Wii-mote like a golf club while holding down the b-trigger button after setting up and aiming at your shot.  Things like aiming and club selection can be done a variety of different ways, with three different types of control schemes suited for beginners (and younger players), average players and those more advanced.

But there's also a frisbee golf option which let's you play any of the game's courses with a disc instead of golf.  In this mode, you hold the Wii-mote like a frisbee, curling it in towards your body and flicking the Wii-mote forward like you're throwing a frisbee.  Of all the Wii games we've ever played, this version of frisbee golf made us the most nervous we've ever been about throwing the Wii-mote at the TV.  Wriststraps are an absolute necessity as you'll end up flinging the Wii-mote quite hard in order to make a full strength throw.

The golf and frisbee-golf modes would both make for solid family game experiences on their own, with their beautiful and scenic courses, and controls that make it really feel like you are actually doing what's happening onscreen.  But there's another mode to this game that really puts Tiger Woods PGA Tour '10 over the top and makes ita highly recommended family game - Golf Party.

Golf Party is a collection of 15 mini-games, which can be played by up to 4 players.  Some mini-games have everyone playing at once, but the majority involve taking turns.  You can select to play 5, 10 or all 15 mini-games, and everyone competes, with points awarded based on how everyone finishes.  But between every turn, each player takes a simple putt that acts as a spin, which can lead like things to adding points to their score or taking points away from others.  Even if one player is winning nearly every game, things the competition will still likely be very close.  Mini-games range from playing 3 holes of golf as fast as you can, with no regard for score, to driving a golf cart and picking up golf balls.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 is much more than just a golf game, and will appeal to just about any family that has even a marginal interest or knowledge in the sport of golf.  Beyond the game’s enjoyable main golf game, which allows for different control schemes depending on a player’s skill level, families will love the addition of Frisbee golf, and can spend many Family Videogame Nights competing in the game’s Golf Party mode.
