Game Details:

Toy Story Mania is a collection of mini-games and features the familiar Toy Story characters taking on various challenges.  There is a lot of aiming at the screen and pushing the “a” button involved in most of the mini-games, with a few flicks and twirls of the Wii-mote required every so often.

The game is definitely designed with younger gamers in mind, which can be a highlight or a lowlight depending on the makeup of your family.  To be able to play each game whenever you’d like, you first need to achieve all the objectives for each level in story mode.  Story mode is a progression through all the mini-games, but there’s no clear roadmap as to what you will be doing next, and no clear way to go back to a game you may have played a few minutes ago.  So it will take an hour or so of gameplay before you’re able to unlock everything to be able to freely play what you want.

Ultimately, Toy Story Mania offers some clean wholesome fun that families with younger kids will enjoy.  While some may see the mini-games as repetitive and could tire of them quickly, other families which are aiming for a more casual experience will find the simple controls and familiarity of the Toy Story universe as an easy way to enjoy playing videogames together.
