Family Friendliness: Overall, Vacation Isle is best suited for kids and tweens, and includes some offerings that are really fun in small bursts, while also containing some mini-games that are fun the first couple of times, but may soon get old.  From our playthroughs, Wakeboarding and Slalom Skiing were the most satisfying and fun to control, while the jetskiing in the stunt park was rather frustrating.  Hula Dance and Fire Dance were an entertaining way to try a different type of dancing, but weren’t enough to necessarily want to make us play over and over again.

Highlights:
-Wakeboarding and slalom skiing were easy to control, and our favorite parts of Vacation Isle.

-Nice overall vacation feel, with decent amount of character customization options.
Lowlights:
-Once you do get the hand of Hula Dancing and Fire Dancing, there aren’t many different routines, so it can quickly become repetitive.

-Jetskiing was rather frustrating because it seemed hard to steer the jetski where we were aiming it.

Game Details:

Vacation Isle: Beach Party is mostly a collection of motorized watersports, like jet skiing, wakeboarding or slalom skiing, with a couple of vacation-themed dance modes included.

The game supports the Wii balance board, but does not require it.  If you don’t have a Wii Balance Board, then the game requires every player to have a nunchuk, and every Vacation Isle mini-game makes use of it.  The different water games are all feature a similar control scheme in which you can move left to right by either using the nuncuk or the joystick or by leaning left and right on the Wii Balance Board (if you have one).  Wakeboarding asks you to turn the Balance Board to the side, but the general need to lean one way or the other to steer remains the same.

The Hula and Fire Dance mini-games ask you to shake or twist your nunchuk or Wii-motes in time with the music.

Throughout each mini-game, you can collect silver or gold “sand dollars” to be used to upgrade your character or by special clothes or other items.
