Putting players at the center of a nationwide cheerleading competition, We Cheer utilizes two Wii-motes as virtual pom-poms to create an authentic cheerleading experience. You hold a Wii-mote in each hand to perform routines, and two players can both play this way. Up to four players can play holding only one Wii-mote in their right hand.
Players move the Wii-motes as directed by the on-screen indicators to choreographed routines, utilizing a full range of arm and body movements such as spins and twists.
As each routine is successfully performed, the player will be able to recruit new team members to their squad, adding new cheerleading abilities and choreographed routines.
The routines are pretty difficult, and it seems as if having some cheerleading experience would be really helpful. The game’s definitely a fun challenge, and it’s rewarding to complete a routine, but the difficulty level makes it really hard to enjoy as a family experience.
Only older kids are going to have the coordination to successfully complete the cheers. And it’s very likely that older boys aren’t going to be as comfortable with the game’s girly mystique and presentation. So that limits this game’s appeal to mainly families with girls, and specifically older girls.
We Cheer is a fun challenge in a cute package. It’s a perfect game for parents to play with their daughters. Unfortunately, the lack of appeal to boys and younger games limits its family-friendly appeal.
ADDITIONAL INFO:We Cheer features cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes for up to four players. The game also features a workout mode that lets players keep track of approximately how many calories they have burned while cheering. Each character in the game is fully customizable, with a variety of uniforms, shoes and accessories to choose from for added personalization.
The game features licensed music, so many of the tracks will seem familiar.
