Wipeout for the 3DS brings the popular family game show/obstacle course to the handheld system, and the result is a game that can be fun for up to four players to play to try and beat each players team.
There are 10 different “episodes” available for families to try, each with slightly different obstacles and actions, although all have a very similar control scheme. Players will run from left to right, platform-style, jumping and dodging obstacles along the way.
Although most of the time players will probably play alone trying to beat their own times, the game does allow for up to four players to compete in “pass and play” head to head, in which each player takes their turn on the course in a battle for the best time.
Wipeout for 3DS is definitely fun, even for folks who may not be fans of the show. There are some challenges that seem very easy, and others that can provide a bit of frustration when they can’t be completed even after multiple attempts. We think kids ages 7 and up will love Wipeout in the Zone, and we especially love the ability for families to compete against each other in it.
