Family Friendliness: Although You Don’t Know Jack is a clever and very entertaining take on trivia games that is compelling to both watch and play, we’re really only comfortable recommending this one for players who are allowed to go on unescorted dates.  We appreciate this game for what it is, though, which is a great trivia game for grown-ups who are looking or a fun party game – after the kids have gone too bed.

Highlights:
- The game’s quick presentation, steady pace and clever transitions make players feel like they’re part of a real game show experience.
- You Don’t Know Jack’s trivia with a twist is a great test of both general and pop culture knowledge.
Lowlights:
- Strong sexual humor and mature content make this game inappropriate for families with kids below dating age.

Product Description

You Don’t Know Jack lives up to its “irreverent” description, offering zingy bits of trivia in a TV-show like package that’s great for parties and grown-ups, but probably only appropriate for families with older teenagers.

From the very beginning, the game makes you feel as if you’re part of a TV show, with “behind-the-scenes” producer style instructions to assist you through the game’s set up and menu system.  Once everything is entered, you’re ready to start the 10-round trivia game.

You Don’t Know Jack is hosted by “Cookie Masterson,” who has a wide array of sharp and witty comments about nearly every question that’s asked.  And the questions are not the standard trivia fare.  They often combine several elements of pop culture in unexpected ways.  For example, one question asks that if they Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were Tortoises, what would they order from Pizza Hut?  The answer is the veggie-lovers, since Tortoises are vegetarian, but that’s a good illustration of how the game presents its trivia in a wacky way.

One other very important to note is that the game does include some very heavy sexual innuendo and topics.  For example, a question about the earth’s size relative to Uranus has some pretty obvious references to anal sex.  Since the game doesn’t present itself as something that’s appropriate for all ages, we don’t hold it against it, but families who are interested in this game absolutely need to know that despite the T rating, some of the content still probably isn’t suitable for younger teenagers.

Although You Don’t Know Jack is a clever and very entertaining take on trivia games that is compelling to both watch and play, we’re really only comfortable recommending this one for players who are allowed to go on unescorted dates.  We appreciate this game for what it is, though, which is a great trivia game for grown-ups who are looking or a fun party game – after the kids have gone too bed.

The award-winning YOU DON’T KNOW JACK game franchise is being reincarnated for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo DS platforms.  Pop culture and high culture famously collide in this fast-paced trivia party game show filled with zany mind-bending questions about what’s newsworthy, relevant & interesting in today’s world.
